Maybe there’s hope for the rest of us? How Tom Brady went from scrawny to superstar:

The pictures remain the funniest part. Tom Brady is standing in the smallish white box at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis in 2000 with his shirt off, like so many prospects before and since then.

 The difference is he does not look like an athlete, at least not in the conventional sense. He looks pasty, for starters. And while Brady is not remotely overweight, it’s debatable based on the shot whether he ever had lifted a weight…

I like to believe these images exist to even things out, just a little. They are a reminder the guy sleeping with Giselle and finishing his $20 million mansion and playing in his fifth Super Bowl had what, at one time at least, had to be a soul-crushing day.

This week I had the privilege to witness a friend get “inked” at a local tattoo parlor. It was amazing to watch such precision from the tattoo artist as he carefully traced the outlined design. It showed off his true attention to detail.

Every tattoo has its own meaning that is connected with stories, memories, feelings, and interests. I find tattoos to be interesting not only because of the artwork, but how they make someone’s dreams, desires, and thoughts permanent.

As a leader, I follow the teachings of other people as an opportunity to learn and give. There is something comforting about stumbling into light within the darkness of pain, fear, risk, doubt, and even love. I am very lucky to say that I have two incredibly unique close friends that follow their hearts and soul. Although these two consider me as their mentor, I continuous learn from them by watching them grow from strength to strength over the years even in the darkness of time. I believe living is contagious and when people are being true and honest they start to become something greater. It’s a blessing to witness people catch themselves in moments where they become awake of themselves again. There are those people that come into our lives to teach us the importance of living a life that matters. I can honestly say that I have changed because I met these two beautiful women. “Cruz” Control

The best types of friendships are tested when forms of “convenience” are removed and the desire to keep in touch prevails over any distance in time and space, schedules, or distractions. There are some dear friends that I hope to never forget, because at one moment in time they were exactly what I needed to help influence the person I am today. They are the ones that embrace who I am, unconditionally. Thank you for teaching me that it is never too late to own the choices, actions, and mistakes made and having the courage to take the necessary steps to improve upon them. And thank you for being a great cheerleader, for always encouraging me to embrace the beauty, strengths, and ideas that embodies the individual inside me. This moment was taken with great friends.

Sarah Mason, a former classmate, I seriously still remember her from high school. She was class vice-president and very involved on campus. Redlands - Small Town, Big Voices.
